The Founder

Meet Jake Mitchell, the John Wick of Legal Social Media

I have been around lawyers my whole life. My dad is an attorney and growing up outside Philadelphia, the legal world has always been close to our home. I learned very early on how lawyers think, how busy they are, how much pressure they are under on a day-to-day, and how much of their business comes down to relationships and reputation.

Years ago, I got my start as a video editor spending countless hours learning what makes someone watch a video all the way through and what makes them scroll past in two seconds. Along the way, I noticed that the lawyers I knew were some of the most interesting people I’d ever met. They had stories and experiences most people would not believe and almost none of them were telling those stories online.

That’s why Mitchell Media originated. I combined what I knew about content with what I knew about lawyers and started helping attorneys put themselves out there on LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok in a way that feels like them. Today, I work with attorneys across the country in family law, personal injury, workers’ comp, and more, and I have worked with solo practitioners and established firms.

I keep my roster small on purpose. When you work with me, you are working with me. I’ll sit down with you (sometimes right in your office) and ask the questions that bring back the cases and experiences you forgot you had. I turn those conversations into content that sounds like you on your best day. You approve everything before it goes out, and everything sounds like you (not me). My job is to help you find your voice and keep it consistent.

There are two things I do not do: I don’t publish generic AI garbage content, and I will never promise you overnight results. I only take on clients I believe I can help since my reputation in the legal world is built on the people I choose to work with.

Outside of work, you will find me in the gym. I’ve been doing calisthenics and strength training for eight years, and I haven’t missed a full week of training in years. That’s the same methodology I bring when helping clients with content because showing up consistently beats one big burst every few months. I’m also a huge car guy, so if you ever want to talk about cars, I’m always in. I spend a lot of my time in Salt Lake City, Scottsdale, and SoCal.

If you want to be known for the work you do and the person you are, let’s talk.

My Pledge to You

Zero tolerance for content that sounds like AI.

Seemingly every day, lawyers are getting sanctioned for filing briefs that cite fake cases because they are entirely AI-written. On social media, the damage is not as severe as that, yet still substantial.

You have most definitely seen AI slop on social media. Everybody can tell.

Delegating 100% of your posts and comments to AI will not get you disbarred, but doing it over and over and over is the social media version of getting sanctioned. It quietly chips away at your credibility and worse, it makes you look lazy.

Referrals run on trust. If another attorney sees you can’t be bothered to write a two-line comment yourself, why would they trust you with their client’s case?

Your reputation took years to build. I am not going to let AI slop chip away at it. Every post we create together will sound like YOU.

The rules I hold myself to

  1. 01No made-up facts, cases, quotes, or statistics.
  2. 02No confidential client details shared online. Stories are changed so nobody can be identified and you do not get in trouble for violating attorney-client privilege.
  3. 03Nothing gets published without your approval.
  4. 04If it doesn’t sound like you, I rewrite it until it does.

You’ll never see this in your content:

  • Em dashes in every other sentence
  • “In today’s fast-paced world...”
  • “Delve,” “furthermore,” or “it’s important to note”
  • “It’s not just X, it’s Y”
  • “Not because of X. But because of Y”
  • Starting a bunch of sentences with “And” or “But” or “So”
  • Weird sentence fragments characteristic of AI
  • “This is such an important topic”
  • “What a great lesson, X!”
  • “Here’s the thing:” and “Let that sink in.”
  • “Game-changer,” “unlock,” “elevate,” and “navigate the landscape”
  • “Tapestry,” “testament,” “realm,” and “robust”
  • “I’m thrilled to announce” or “humbled and honored”
  • Questions answered in the next line (“The result? Chaos.”)
  • Everything listed in perfect groups of three
  • One-line paragraphs stacked like a staircase
  • “Agree?” tacked onto the end of every post
  • “Nobody talks about this” hooks
  • Hashtag walls and emoji bullet points
  • Fake vulnerability that ends in a sales pitch
  • “In conclusion” or “In summary”
  • Made-up stories or statistics
  • Generic advice any lawyer could have posted
  • Anything you wouldn’t say out loud

If it doesn’t sound like you, it doesn’t go out. That’s my promise.
